A brand new tattoo is basically a wound. Because of the bruising experienced by it during the tattoo process, the skin will usually release tiny body fluid on the skin. Minute blood particles would also be present in this fluid and when the fluid dries up they end up looking like tiny black specs on the surface of your tattoo.

Quite a handful of healing ointments are available in the market to promote the healing process. These ointments include: Zinc, A & D Ointment and Petroleum. The clear fluid which usually drains from a tattoo may change to creamy yellow, brown or red if the tattoo gets infected, this fluid may also start to smell like pus. Antibiotics are usually needed to heal an infected tattoo but a doctor might also recommend blood tests as well and suggest that the infected tattoo be kept as dry as possible. Water tends to affect healing tattoos adversely and you can read more about care of a new tattoo here.
