No Depression When You Are Looking Great
The Revlon Cosmetics started out in the midst of the Great Depression in the year 1932 by Charles Revson and his brother, Joseph. They partnered with chemist, Charles Lachman who contributed the L in the brand name making it Revlon. They started out with a single product which is the new type of nail enamel wherein the three founders pooled out all of their resources and in turn, developed a new manufacturing process. They used pigments instead of dyes; Revlon innovated and developed a wide range of new shades and colors of opaque nail enamel.
After six years, Revlon Cosmetics became a multimillion dollar company and one of the founders and a brilliant merchandiser, Charles Revson, arrived on the industry at the right time with the right kind of products even though he was often accused of stealing formulas and trends by other cosmetic companies. He perceived that after the World War II, women would be ready to paint up and be glamorized especially with the Technicolor arriving on the film industry. Thus, making the red lips staple to every woman and in turn, perceiving it to be the girl-next-door look.
